Responsible for engaging students in the competency-based learning community. Oversee school activities related to case management, guidance, intake, and logistics. Oversee Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Alternative Education Initiative (AEI) enrollment process. Promote and facilitate community partnerships by collaborating with other social services agencies. Coordinate all testing and assessments with the support of the Special Education and Curriculum Coordinator. Support the implementation and documentation of students’ social-emotional and academic accommodations in accordance with IDEA. Provide supportive counseling, advocacy, and mediation services. Maintain academic records, record-related assessment data and Individual Service Strategies. Coordinate all mentors, tutors, and volunteers of UHS. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s in education or counseling, with one to three years experience working with urban youth required. Master’s in education or counseling preferred. Must possess an unwavering belief in urban youth and their potential. Ability and willingness to attend all staff and district meetings. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
