What type of program is this?
Career Exploration Program; Year-round program for out of school youth who would like to receive more intensive training within a specific career path.
What is the age range of students in this program?
16 - 24 years old.
What are the program hours?
Varies throughout the program components. Training/college courses are usually a couple of hours per day for 2-3 days per week. Internships can be up to 20 hours per week.
What are some common barriers of youth served?
Low-income youth who face a wide range of barriers: homelessness, DYS, DCF, parenting/pregnant, substance abuse, disabilities, etc.
What services do you offer?
Wrap-around support including case management, college credits, job searches, career-specific training, professional development/job readiness workshops, internship placements, resume building, mock interviews, etc.
Do you provide a stipend ($$$) to students in the program?
Yes, youth receive a monthly stipend during the fall and winter and then get paid hourly for their internship placements in the spring and summer.
When can I enroll?
Enrollment begins in the early Fall and then continues on a rolling basis throughout the year.
