Our mission is to collaboratively improve the quality and diversity of services for youth at risk that allows them to develop the academic, work-readiness, life skills and support structure necessary to become self-sufficient adults.

Maritime Apprentice Program

What kind of program is this?

Career Exploration/HiSET (GED) Program with 100% gang-involved young people that offer technical trade, college exposure, and court support.

 

What is the age range of students in this program?

Ages 18-24 years old

 

Do you provide a stipend ($$$) to students in the program?

Yes, 20 hours per week to learn boat shops /life skills.

 

What are the program hours?

30-hour a week pilot program.

 

What are the program hours?

Shop hours are Monday to Thursday, 10 am - 3 pm.

 

What are some common barriers of youth served?

DYS youth, gang involved, adult incarcerated, youthful offenders served.

 

 

What services do you offer?

Wraparound support, counseling, internship, HiSET/GED, career exploration, therapy, court involvement support, college exploration & transition.

 

 

GED / HiSET Pathway

What is your BYSN “Special Sauce”?

Engaging gang-involved youth, setting high expectations, and providing technical skill work. MAP addresses both Career Exploration and HiSET/GED on site, as well as linking with College Bound Dorchester off-site for additional HiSET/GED support.
