Maritime Apprentice Program

  1. What kind of program is this?

    1. Career Exploration/HiSET (GED) Program with 100% gang involved young people that offers technical trade, college exposure, and court support.

  2. What is the age range of students in this program?

    1. Ages 18-24 years old

  3. Do you provide a stipend ($$$) to students in the program?

    1. Yes, 20 hours per week to learn boat shops /life skills.

  4. What are the program hours?

    1. 30-hour a week pilot program.

  5. What are the program hours?

    1. Shop hours are Monday to Thursday, 10am - 3pm.

  6. What are some common barriers of youth served?

    1. DYS youth, gang involved, adult incarcerated, youthful offenders served.

  7. What services do you offer?

    1. Wraparound support, counseling, internship, HiSET/GED, career exploration, therapy, court involvement support, college exploration & transition.

  8. What is your BYSN “Special Sauce”?

    1. Engaging gang involved youth, setting high expectations, and providing technical skill work. MAP addresses both Career Exploration and HiSET/GED on site, as well as linking with College Bound Dorchester off-site for additional HiSET/GED support.
