BYSN MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to collaboratively improve the quality and diversity of services for youth at risk that allows them to develop the academic, work-readiness, life skills and support structure necessary to become self-sufficient adults.

College Bound Dorchester

  1. What kind of program is this?

    1. Alternative Education / HiSET (GED) Program. Serves students that have not been successful in other programs; those deemed too difficult to engage with an emphasis on college enrollment.

  2. What is the age range of students in this program?

    1. Ages 18-30 years old.

  3. What are the program hours?

    1. Monday – Friday, 9:30AM- 2:00PM.

  4. When can I enroll?

    1. Rolling admission; Enrollment available year-round.

  5. What are some common barriers of youth served?

    1. Our students live below the poverty line and are behind in their academic development. Many have served time in correctional facilities, are active gang members, and have dropped out of multiple high schools.

  6. What is your BYSN “Special Sauce”?

    1. Provide social-emotional support through one-on-one coaching from College Readiness Advisers to build confidence and motivation as our students journey to and through college. We also provide academic support to build skills to ensure that students are progressing at or above grade level and are prepared for college-level courses.
