We are using the majority of our meeting time this month on a training in partnership with the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative, affiliated with Massachusetts Advocates for Children - Working with Traumatized Youth. This is an opportunity to bring all of our staff together from our various organizations so please invite any of your staff who would like to participate. We are meeting 2:00-4:00 pm at 555 Amory Street at the PIC Jamaica Plain office.

Methods and materials will be presented that a teacher or volunteer tutor could use to teach decoding, spelling, writing and comprehension. Additional issues with ESOL LD learners will be considered. Participants are urged to bring case studies and pre-formulate questions to pose in the session.

Note different location! The Boston Youth Service Network monthly meeting is 2:00-4:00 pm at ABCD Ostiguy High School. Ostiguy is located at 19 Temple Place, in Downtown Crossing (map and directions).

Hope everyone had a great summer! Many members ran successful summer programs while others geared up for another busy school year. We have a full agenda for our first meeting of the new school year - Thurs, 9/20 from 2:00-4:00 pm at 555 Amory Street.
