Salary is $19.50 per hour.

JOB DESCRIPTION
GED TEACHER
ADULT LEARNING CENTERS PROGRAM
BOSTON CENTERS FOR YOUTH & FAMILIES

GENERAL DUTIES:

The Teacher provides group instruction to adult learners. Teachers are required to develop curriculum, assess learners and maintain records in accordance with the requirements of the program and the funding source.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach assigned classes
  • Administer learner assessments
  • Design and complete Individual Learning Plan with each student
  • Develop curriculum in alignment with the Curriculum Frameworks
  • Keep records on student attendance and progress and other records as required
  • Participate in and document activities related to staff and program development
  • For new staff, attend fifteen hour teacher orientation provided by SABES
  • Counsel students as needed and refer them to appropriate services
  • Attend site and program meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years teaching experience, preferably with ABE/GED Prep
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum design and implementation
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work with a multicultural multilingual population
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of STAR Reading is desirable
  • CORI/SORI CHECK REQUIRED
