Please save the date! The ESE is hosting the conference Encouraging School Connectedness: A Joint Statewide Conference on Trauma Sensitive Schools and Homeless Education on April 28, 2010 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.  Registration information will be available on the ESE website in mid-March, and an email notice will be sent when the registration is available.

Interested in presenting at the conference? We are looking for innovative, replicable workshops on the theme of encouraging school connectedness! This is a great opportunity to share and expand your great work. If you would like to be considered for a workshop presentation, please complete the attached “call for presenters” form and email to jcurtin@doe.mass.edu by March 5, 2010. Examples of general workshop areas we are looking for include: 1) best practice for encouraging school connectedness in Alternative Education programs, 2) trauma and its impact on learning and relationships, and 3) addressing school connectedness as a dropout reduction strategy.

As educators in the field of Alternative Education programs and schools, I encourage you take advantage of attending this conference and consider ways to enhance your program or school through promising approaches in the areas of school connectedness, trauma sensitive environments, and homeless education.
