YBB is still accepting applications until 4pm Wed 5/13/08 for our paid career exploration program in Landscaping and Green Industries. In the Project Advantage program students (age 16- 18) learn job skills and are able to explore a variety of career paths while working on their GED. They work directly with professionals in landscaping and green industries while working on a variety of projects that will improve their community.
Students age 16-18 who have not yet received a high school diploma or GED will spend 50% of their time on the work site and 50% of their time in the classroom preparing for the GED exam. While in training (expected to last 6 - 9 months) they will receive a $200 stipend every two weeks.
Upon graduation students will be paced in full-time employment and/or gain college access.
Interested students must submit their COMPLETED application no later than 4 pm on Tuesday 5/13. They must also be available for TABE testing from 9 am - 3 pm on Wednesday 5/14. Classes begin on Monday 5/19. Applications can be found at http://ybboston.org/project_advantage.htm.
