YouthBuild Boston's Construction Training Program is Still Accepting Applications - Deadline Approaching
YBB is still accepting aplication until 4pm Wed 5/13/08 for our paid Construction Training Program. In the Constuction Training Program students (age 18 - 24) learn job skills in the constuction trades while doing hands-on work at one of YBB's building projects. They work directly with building trades instructors while learning carpentry and other skills while building low-income housing for the community.
Students age 18 - 24 who have not yet received a high school diploma or GED will spend 50% of their time on the work site and 50% of their time in the classroom preparing for the GED exam. While in training (expected to last 6 - 9 months) they will receive a $250 stipend every two weeks.
Students age 18 - 24 who have already received a high school diploma or GED will spend 100% of their time on the work site with instructors. While in training (expected to last 6 months) they will receive a $500 stipend every two weeks.
Upon graduation students will be paced in full-time employment.
Interested students must submit their COMPLETED application no later than 4 pm on Tuesday 5/13. They must also be available for TABE testing from 9 am - 3 pm on Wednesday 5/14. Classes begin on Monday 5/19. Applications can be found at http://ybboston.org/construction.htm.

THIS IS NOT A PAID GED PROGRAM. THIS IS A PREAPPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM.
Please Note: Students who have already completed their GED or HS Diploma have until 5/30 to apply, however the few remaining slots will be filled quickly. Do not hesitate.
