Project Advantage: Landscape Construction Team Leader

(seeking applicants for a paid training opportunity)

YouthBuild Boston’s Project Advantage Program is looking for a trainee who is interested in entering the landscape construction workforce. Gain valuable landscape training while developing the skills needed to enter the growing green industry workforce.

 

Candidate should possess strong desire to be a leader and learn project management skills through hands–on training. Trainee would be exposed to green industry skill sets such as horticulture, design, masonry and carpentry, as they relate to landscape construction. Trainee will assist program staff on day-to-day projects and help to lead a crew of 16 – 19 year old students. Qualifications:

  • must be 19 – 24 years of age
  • must have GED or High School Diploma
  • must meet eligibility guidelines which target low –income youth and/or at-risk youth
  • Knowledge or interest in landscape construction
  • Ability to act as a team leader and mentor younger students
  • Ability to take direction and follow through with little supervision
  • Goal-oriented
  • Dependable (must maintain excellent rate of attendance)
  • Desire to improve the community
  • Ability to work with diverse group of people

Stipend and Benefits:This 6-month position includes a $250 weekly training stipend. Upon successful competition, trainee will receive placement assistance (college or job) and may qualify for an Individual Development Account with a matching contribution.
