Parthenon Summary Report

in

A summary of the Parthenon Project was presented at the school committee meeting on 9/26. The Parthenon Group presented key findings from the extensive data analysis, including a detailed look at the populations most at risk of dropping out of school (see attached report).

Michael Contampassis presented summary findings from the School Quality Review process for the CBO diploma programs and some recommendations. Superintendent Johnson presented some next steps for the coming months. These are also outlined in the attached summary report.

The data analysis identified four key segments of the dropout population: 1) students with one or more 8th grade risk factors, 2) students with multiple 9th grade core course failures, 3) substantially separate special education students, and 4) late entrant ELL students.

In addition to data on dropouts, the Parthenon study has identified a cohort of 4,500 students who are currently "off-track", or two years or more behind. These students will likely be the focus of short-term interventions this year.
