Action for Boston Community Development

ABCD strives to be the voice and catalyst of empowerment and opportunity, providing hands-on assistance to those in need and responding promptly to emerging issues. Its capacity to bring about positive change impacts more than 100,000 low-income Boston-area families every year. ABCD seeks to be constantly innovate and entrepreneurial, developing new programs to meet changing needs.

 

University High School
The program at UHS strives to honor each student's individuality and unique learning style in a safe, supportive educational environment. UHS is a small learning community maintaining class sizes of 15 students. The school helps students to fully develop their strengths and skills through a curriculum focusing on project-based learning, portfolio development and life skills.

William J. Ostiguy High School

An academic curriculum integrated with the development of supportive life skills for student in recovery. Staff crate and maintain a recovery culture and students access treatment opyion on site.

 

ABCD William J. Ostiguy High School is an alternative high school diploma program for young people whose capacity to succeed in a conventional public high school environment is limited by a history of substance abuse.

ABCD Career Explorations
Programs are designed to offer older youth an opportunity to gain basic skills and explore career options in fields such as Health Professions, Facilities Maintenance, Applicance Repair, Building Trades, Multimedia, among others. Participants learn basic skills utilized in the field, visit a variety of worksites to meet and talk with successful empjloyees in the trades, and receive job placement and case management services.
