BYSN would like to congratulate two partners who were honored as PIC Achievers at the annual meeting of the Boston Private Industry Council. Larry Smith - Deputy Director for Youth and Human Services, Mayor's Office of Jobs and Community Services and Matt Weeman - Youth Career Counselor at The Work Place were recognized for their dedication and hard work.

Larry is committed to improving life outcomes for high-risk youth in Boston. He has partnered with the workforce development community in Boston to administer federal workforce funding to community-based programs for the past nine years. Under his stewardship, providers have developed innovative career exploration programs and administered alternative education programming. In his tenure, Larry has worked to foster an environment of trust between the City and community-based providers and has provided support to the development of a vibrant provider network.

Matt works with youth through the "Year 13" program designed to assist current and former BPS students struggling to pass the MCAS. He provides information, guidance, encouragement, and motivation to these young people. In the words of one student, "I like the honesty even though I might not like the truth."

We value your partnership. Congratulations to you both!
