BYSN awarded Teen Initiative Planning Grant!

in

BYSN was awarded a Round 1 planning grant through the Boston After School & Beyond Teen Initiative.  This is a $3,000 planning grant which allows us to develop a more detailed implementation proposal for a Round 2 grant (August 2007).

We submitted a proposal to deepen the coordination between BYSN and the Boston Public Schools (BPS) to systematize the outreach and referral process for youth.  BYSN would like to build upon our existing relationships with the BPS Office of High School Renewal and the Department of Alternative Education to take a more active role in outreaching to youth, particularly overage and undercredited students, and getting them connected with community-based programming as appropriate before they drop out of high school.  This effort would complement the work underway to directly outreach to youth who have dropped out of high school, thereby contributing to a more cohesive outreach and referral system for youth at risk in Boston.
